Basic duties of military diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Slovenia are:

• representation of state interest, Ministry of defence and Slovene armed forces,
• representation of Slovene armed forces,
• development and promotion of cooperation between ministries of defence and armed forces,
• observing condition and development of defence forces and security policy in countries of accreditation.
